UK Phone Codes

I have found a list of the UK dialling codes. It probably needs some work to check and update, so it is not yet fit for publication.

What files should I prepare for either/both Phoner and PhonerLite? What is the file format?

If I get them working, of course I will share them. But I won't necessarily promise to keep them up to date in the light of the constant changes that they seem to make!

That would be great! Thanks.
The file format is very simple. Take a look at the "germany.dat" file that is part of Phoner.
There are 2 columns seperated with ";". The first column contains the code without any leading zeros. The second column contains the name of the city.

Alas, I allowed myself to be distracted from the task. Boring things like working for a living! Sorry for the delay.

To move things on, I have not done a perfect job with the UK dial codes. There are some in the mobile phone section that I have just listed as "Various". Really they should be split further. One day, when I have the time. I attach UK.dat which seems to work for me. It has the geographic codes showing the main town(s) for the code, and some indication of the other, specialist, codes. For mobile phones, I have (mostly) split out the operators to whom the number was issued. I did that because it can have a significant effect on the price of the call! BUT given number portability, there is no guarantee that the phone on that number is actually subscribing to that network. Therefore the reasonable guess at call charges might be wrong.

I have also gone through the country file, and inserted all the English versions of the country names. That is country-en.dat. I added a few places, including country 800 which is international freephone. There may be a couple of problems, I seek your guidance. Italy is country 39 and Vatican City State is 396. I put them in like that. Does that foul up the way that phoner parses the file? I have done the same with Turkey (90) and their occupied section of Cyprus (90392).

I could not find how to amend the file for phoner to use from within the program. So I went for a look in the ini files and found a likely looking "Options" section. So I amended that, and it seems to work.

Many thanks for providing phoner.

Please continue to support Win98. If you have no Win98 machines to test it on, I am happy to try any potential upgrades and report on their effects.

First time I have tried to post a file to the forum. Had to rename UK.dat to UK.dat.txt otherwise it is forbidden. So anyone wanting the file will have to rename it back!

There is also a one file limit so the country file is on this post.
