Phoner and PhonerLite are a free applications - you don't pay anything for them.
The codec G.729 is not free! I had to pay royalty fees to be allowed to use that codec!
You won't find any free legal application that supports G.729!

Technically it is no problem - but I am just not allowed to use that codec. You can check this page to see the prices for that codec.

They say 729 is not free in USA only.
So let the american pay.
But all others can use it.
Please, make 723 & 729 for people like me?! (free FireFly program has 729 codec, for example)

I tryed a lot of VoIP software, but now i am sure - PhonerLite is THE BEST!
It is very simple and very useful! Complect it with 723 & 729 - it will world leader software!!!

Asterisk G.729 Licensing
Quote:

Study or experiment with G.729 for free
Under patent law, it is a legitimate use to study or experiment with a patented technology without paying for a patent license. You only have to pay royalty fees if you sell a product based on the technology or use the technology in products internally (this includes using the codec in a commercial setting, even if you aren't selling your platform, but only a service). Do not depend on this as legal advice, consult your own legal advisor.

Opensource implementation
An opensource implementation of G.729 codec can be found at http://www.readytechnology.co.uk/open/ipp-codecs-g729-g723.1/. It is a wrapper around Intel Integrated Performance Primitives. Please note: You might still have to pay royalty fees to the G.729 patent holders for using their algorithm and to Intel for using their libraries!

Binaries can be found at http://asterisk.hosting.lv/

Getting code for G.729 and to test it - no problem. But I am not willing to give such a version away. I won't do that, please accept that.
If you really need G.729 then use such other softphone.

Meanwhile G.729 is free of royalty fees. Therefore the actual version of PhonerLite can now support this codec!

Hello, I have found your program and it works correctly for my small switchboard, my problem is that I should use the g279a codec and the program only has the g279b set or at least not set correctly, is this so? Or I'm confused and it's just the g729b available.

PhonerLite tells this in SDP:
Code
Select All
a=fmtp:18 annexb=yes

If the remote party answers with:
Code
Select All
a=fmtp:18 annexb=no

, then normal G.729/G729a is used.
