Noise under conditional transference v2.34
11. Feb 2016 at 20:37
Print Post
The incoming call is OK. But when I start a second call, a conditional transfer, begins a noise during the conversation with the second, this noise only disappears when you concludes the transfer. Some colleagues describe like a robotic voice.
If I use conference this noise don't appear.
Some time ago I used version 2.19. This problem didn't show.
During some test I set DTMF codec off and use sampling 8000 Hz, this didn't solve the problem, but decreased the noise.

Today during a call, I pressed hold and waited a minute, when I came back, the noise appeared.

I can't reproduce that problem here. So I don't know what I can do. Sorry.

I confirm this problem with v2.34
If make second call we have crackles and "metallic" voice (only on the phonerlite side). When second hangup and we return to the first crack continues.
Important: if for a short time turn off and on the speaker button in the program the problem disappear.
Tested on multiple machines and multiple audio devices.
Codec a-law.

Do you initiate a second call or are you called twice? I need to reproduce that here.
Can you please take a look at the statistics page in PhonerLite? Is the number in brackets for packet loss increasing for receipt?
Did you try the beta version? Did that change anything?

I tried a consultative call and simply initiate second call.
At the beginning of the second conversation there is noise and the number of packets in brackets rise from 0 to about 42-44. Jitter falls from 20 to 0.3-1.5. Wnen turn off/on speaker no change in statistic but noise immediately disappears.
The beta version does not change the situation, I tried to version 2.25 and there is no noise, although statistics tab as described above.
Thanks for your help.

I tried that several times here and can NOT reproduce it. Maybe there is something special with your provider. Can you tell me what VoIP service you are using?

I tried that with two local VoIP routers (AVM FritzBox) and can't reproduce that.  I tested with some Internet VoIP accounts too. I don't have an Asterisk here for testing.
Is there a possibility to check with your installation? Is there an account for external testing?
If I understand you right, it is enough to hold a call and wait a little bit and then retrieve the call again.

We have not external accounts and IP, remote access is not easy to organize unfortunately...
You understand me correctly. No matter how and when we make a second call but there is noise. First is always clean.
I noticed one more thing: on the older versions this noise apeears too, but only in beginning and it stops after 1-2 seconds.

I uploaded a new beta version. Can you please try this one and check if the behavior is better now?

OK, then I need a way to test this with an Asterisk PBX/Gateway. Do you know any public service that uses Asterisk so I can test with?

Can you test PhonerLite with a different account (not you Asterisk)? I want to know if this is a local problem at your PC or if this depends on Asterisk.

Can you do the following test please:
Create a new profile containing no sip server or domain. As destination number put "sip:4151595@services.sip.is". You should hear an announcement and press 2. You should hear music now. I can hold the call and late on retrieve it. After an initial crackle I can hear the music again without distortion.
Is that different at your side?

I did this test, in addition I tested PhonerLite with public ekiga accounts not asterisks and on another PC.
The problem still remained:
I speak between ekiga accounts and call sip:4151595@services.sip.is as second and I hear crackles until speaker off-on. When second hangup I returned to the first and hearing crackles again until speaker off-on.
