In the current beta version (3.33beta) there is support for live transcription of the current call. You need to install Whisper via "Options / AI Chat / Transcription" or at CLI prompt via "stt install".
If you have a call you can open the context menu in call list and start a transcription. A new window should appear and show the detected words.
Keep in mind that you need a powerful PC with a good GPU tu use that.

I like the feature a lot. I am hearing impaired and transcribing helps me understand better. 

I currently use the large model which works quite well in German. But I still see errors quite regularly. Are there possible improvements planned in the future? Or would the manual upgrade to a more recent whisper version provide benefits?

Nice to hear that it helps you.
I have no PC that is currently able to run the large model. Maybe I need some new PC with better GPU...

PhonerLite uses a Whisper version that is not maintained anymore. But beside of this I don't think that the client version is the problem. It all depends on the used model. So I think there will be no real solution.

What version of PhonerLite are you using? Can you give me an example of the wrong detected phrases?

Most of my experiences with Whisper are based on PhonerLite x64 3.35. Now I am on 3.36.


Some phrases where Whisper made mistakes:

I checked the version of the ggml-large.bin, saw V1/unversioned and thought that newer versions might bring improvements. Bummer if that isn't the case.

PhonerLite uses the models from here: https://huggingface.co/ggerganov/whisper.cpp/tree/main
The quantisized models (contain "q5") are not supported. You can download "ggml-large-v3.bin" into PhonerLite's Whisper sub directory and rename it to "ggml-large.bin". Give it a try and tell your results.

Did you try this one: https://huggingface.co/cstr/whisper-large-v3-turbo-german-ggml/tree/main

Download the .bin file and rename it "ggml-turbo.bin".
