How to Set Up Direct IP‑to‑IP Calling in PhonerLit

Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure out how to make direct IP‑to‑IP calls in Phoner/PhonerLite, but I can’t find any clear instructions anywhere. Does anyone know the exact steps to set this up? I already know both IP addresses and they don’t change, so I’m hoping it can work without enabling multicast DNS.

If anyone has a basic walkthrough or can confirm whether mDNS is required or not, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

You don't need any special setting for peer-to-peer. You have to leave the configuration field "Proxy/Registrar" empty und "Register" should be unchecked.
In Destination number you just enter something like "user@ip" (example: alice@192.168.178.15).
Problem is only if the other party is behind NAT.

Hello!
How can do it the other way around? So that the peer-to-peer isn't accepted? Only from registered proxy.

At "Configuration / User" there is a checkbox beside the field "User name". Activate that and save.

Thanks for the explanation regarding peer-to-peer calls. I have one more question: if both users are behind NAT but can configure port forwarding on their routers, would direct IP-to-IP calling still work reliably in PhonerLite, or is a SIP server/STUN setup still recommended? I'm trying to understand whether port forwarding alone is enough for stable connections.

It should work with port forwarding. The signaling base port can be configured in PhonerLite. If port 5060 is configured, 5060 is used for UDP and TCP - 5061 will be used for TLS (not very common in server mode).
For RDP (audio data) the UDP port 5062 ist used. For the next call 5064 (always increment by 2) is used. After 30 calls it is started from 5062 again. So you have to forward a range, not only one port.
PhonerLite sends initially to the reported port by the peer - that is mostly wrong if no STUN is used by the peer. As soon as audio is received, PhonerLite sends to the address where the remote audio comes from. That solves most NAT problems.
