dialing after connected - google activation

Hi,

I set up this way,

phonelite to pbxer.org (sip provider)
pbxer.org to ipkall.com (sip to pots phone number)
ipkall.com to google voice account

so I am able to receive calls from the ipkall.com phone number on my phonelite thus far

also when i try to verify my phone number with google voice, i can receive the call

*** here is the problem, google voice wants me to enter a two digit code in when they call me to verify.

i tried using the mouse and using the soft keypad, result i hear tones, google apparently can't hear or understand them

i tried the same and pressing the green connect button to send the string through, same result

i tried typing the numbers using the keypad, same result

etc etc

any suggestions, is dial tone disabled, do i need to change protocols, how would one get through any customer service phone call without in call dial tone?

otherwise the sound is clear etc, set up was reasonable, like the phone so far, couldn't set up on any other i've tried.

Somebody please post a reply.

Here's a more basic question anyone can answer.

Can you dial extensions or use your dial tone through menus etc when you are using your phonerlite to call an ordinary POTS/landline phonenumber???

I have no problems using such DTMF. I am using this to control an answering machine and some other menu driven services.
PhonerLite tries to negotiate RFC2833 - this is used to send such digits out of band. If the other party doesn't support this, inband tone generation is used.
Did you try this with the latest version of PhonerLite?

I also have trouble with DTMF being recognised by some commercial help lines, I think it is down to the length and or volume of the tone that is generated.

Sometimes by clicking the button in quick succession it will work, but you then get wrong selections, on most normal telephones the tone is sent for as long as the button is pressed.

It would be nice to have the tone "on" for as long as the digit is clicked (an option perhaps) and perhaps be able to select tone being louder.

Did you try another softphone like X-lite, Ninja or Zoiper?
What VoIP provider are you using?

Hi,

Yes I have tried x-lite, and express talk and some others, and they work.

Interestingly, phoner works better than phonerlite for the DTMF tones.

Provider is sipgate.

The UK number which shows up the problem well is 0800 0270384

It is the recorded status line for Demon Internet and uses the digits 1 and 2

I am registered with German Sipgate (sipgate.de) and called the number 00448000270384. I could press 1 and 2 and the announcement changes - so I expect sending DTMF is working.
Something must be different between your and my scenario.

I used PhonerLite.
What version of PhonerLite are you using?
Phoner has an option in Options/Communications/CAPI that is called "own DTMF". Do you have activated this option?

PhonerLite sends DTMFs as in RFC2833 - that is supported by German Sipgate too. I don't have an account for UK Sipgate.

Thanks for reply,

Phonerlite Version 1.82  Phoner 2.55

Phoner - yes own DTMF selected

Phoner  with own dtmf not activated,  very unreliable, will work now and again, multiple press on button.

Phoner with "own activated", works every time.

I have tried with different accounts, different computers, and different broadband connections, and get the same results...

Just downloaded and tried Zoiper.....works perfectly.

The option "own DTMF" means, that Phoner sends the tones inband. PhonerLite wants to negotiate out of band DTMF signalling - that works with German Sipgate here very well.
Only if the other party (Sipgate) doesn't tell that it supports out of band signaling for DTMF, inband signaling is used by PhonerLite too.
Please use PhonerLite and call your own (hardware) phone over Sipgate. After call establishment please press some dial buttons in PhonerLite: Do you hear anything on the phone?

The tones can be heard.  I will just have to put it down to a peculiarity with their 0800 number/phonerlite.

Will use phoner in future.

Thank you for your help.
