Phoner is great!

Hi lads,

I only just started using Phonerlite today for work purposes, I have Phoner synchronized with Sipgate and it make a certain connection with the server. I get the correspondent on the line but I can't hear anything and I don't know but don't think if they hear me.

ONCE I had someone on the line, but that was the only time I got lucky in 5 hours or something...

To be frank I also have no IT knowledge so anything too technical is lost on me, I need a step by step explanation of what to do and click or I'll be left dazed and confused...

Still this is really important to me so any help is appreciated, thank you so much.

Are you really using Phoner? I would suggest to use PhonerLite instead. PhonerLite is the VoIP specilized version of Phoner.
First of all you have to check, if you are using the right sound devices. You can chose sound devices by right clicking on the microphone and speaker button above the volume sliders.
To check, if sound works, you can left click these two buttons (without any call). The red crosses should disappear and you should hear yourself when speaking into the microphone (or headset).

I am using Phonerlite. I can hear myself before the call connects and I can hear it ring. I pick up and get someone on the line but can't that's when I can't hear anyone.

This ringback tone is generated locally. It seems that no data arrives at your PC. Maybe there is a problem with a firewall or NAT.
Do you have configured a STUN server in PhonerLite? If yes, please empty this field, save and try again.

I have the settings configured the way Sipgate told me to, including no STUN server. As I mentioned before, I had someone on the line once in all these hours. I'm sure the firewall settings are fine since I got the message asking if the programs had permission.

OK. But I don't know whats the problem then. If you open the statistics page in PhonerLite while an active call, do you see any incoming packets (the number should increase)?

If the remote party speaks, you should see some changing level (green bar) for receiving. 
So you see the other party speaking, but you don't hear it? Strange. I never saw this before.

Ok, I don't get the receipt packet when I have someone on the line. My mistake. I do get a transmit one.

So something is blocking that incoming voice data. The packets don't reach PhonerLite.
Are you sure, that there is no additional firewall involved?

If you would use a different provider than Sipgate, I would suggest you to configure a STUN server. But Sipgate works here (in Germany it is sipgate.de) without the need of a STUN server.
You may try to configure a STUN server (e.g. stun.ekiga.net).

I am in Germany so Sipgate should be fine, this thread is close to the problem I had.

That problem was with a firewall too. I don't know your environment and what firewall you are using. If you have installed a firewall you have to configure it. But that is outside the scope of PhonerLite.

Another thing which might be worth mentioning: When I dial the test-number I don't hear anything. When I do it a second time while the first try is on hold, I hear the voice telling me it's okay.
